I love senior sessions. It is such a big milestone. I adore getting to know each senior and capturing their personality.
Getting to know Claire was a little bit different. We first became friends with her parents in childbirth class. That makes me feel pretty old.
I was so excited that I was in Denver and able to do her pictures!

I am a big advocate of the “first year package.” I know that everyone says it goes fast, but until you are in it you can’t understand. Often times you don’t even feel it happening.
I don’t believe that first year packages need to be done at assigned ages. In fact, I think that doing so can be a disservice to my clients. For example, the truth is that a newborn and three month old are entirely different. The biggest difference is that the 3 month old is awake and wiggly.
Instead, I tell clients that we should do sessions based on milestones. For example pushing up, sitting, pulling up etc. That way you document the ages but your images look different and show the growth of your little one.
I also firmly believe that getting pictures done shouldn’t be stressful or something that you dread. I want people to actually look forward to them. That’s why I do not require that the “first year package,” be used in its entirety within a year. Life gets crazy!

When I am hired to photograph a birth I sometimes, only half joking, say that I am mostly being paid to capture one image. The image where the baby crosses the line from one place to the other. When they emerge into what is surely a blinding light. It is truly one of the coolest things to witness.

My sister and I are 13 months apart. While today she is my absolute best friend, that didn’t really kick in until I left for college. Up until then I think that the third picture would be a fair representation of our relationship. I love you so much and I’m going to hug-strangle you. I adore these two. Could they be cuter?
